Creating a vibrant future for The Oracle

Public space improvements

Through improving connectivity and public spaces, the proposals will seek to optimise the riverside location of The Oracle and create a positive and welcoming gateway to Reading Town Centre.

Our ambition is to deliver significant improvements to publicly accessible spaces. We aspire to enhance The Oracle ‘experience’ and position the centre as a well-connected focal point for work, life and leisure within the town centre.

We are currently exploring ways of achieving this, including:

  • Improving pedestrian links to the south of the site by connecting London Road to the town centre and improving pedestrian crossings across the Inner Distribution Road
  • New landscaping along the riverfront to open up the centre and create a pleasant riverside environment for visitors and residents
  • Improving the attractiveness of the area surrounding Yield Hall Lane
  • Introducing new green spaces, trees and planting to increase biodiversity and optimise the surrounding environment
